THE CHRISTIAN’S HOPE
Jesus Christ promised to prepare a place for those who will believe in
Him. (John 14:1-3). Christians believe that there is a better life for
us when we die in the Lord. Spiritually, we belong to the kingdom of Heaven,
while on earth, but we shall dwell there in reality when we depart from the
earth. We are saved, not only to serve God and enjoy His blessings on earth,
but more importantly to have eternal rest with the Father in Heaven. Those who
do not believe in Christ or all who are not faithful to Him will be thrown in
Hell.
What is
Heaven?
a. Heaven is God’s dwelling place
b. Heaven is the home of all the righteous dead
c. Heaven is the future home of all faithful
believers
What is Hell?
a. Hell is a place reserved for Satan, his
demons and all who will follow him
b. Hell is a place of eternal torments – Lk
16:23
c. Hell is a place of weeping and gnashing of
teeth – Matt 25:30
d. Hell is a place of total darkness – Matt
22:13
e. Hell is a place of everlasting destruction – 2Thes
1:9
f. Hell is a place where people are
tormented with fire and brimstone – Rev 21:8
g. Hell is a place where the fire is never
quenched – Mark 9:44
How is Heaven like?
a. Heaven is a place of great glory
b. Heaven is a place of continual worship
c. Heaven is a place where there is no evil – Rev
21:27
d. Heaven is a place without night, curse, pain,
sorrow or death – Rev 21:4, 22:3-5
e. Heaven is a place without end
All believers have links with
Heaven
a. The believer’s name is written in heaven – Lk
10:20
b. The believer is seated in heaven with Christ
Jesus – Eph 2:6
c. The believer’s treasure is kept in heaven – 1Pet
1:3-4
d. The believer receives every spiritual
blessing from heaven – Eph 1:3
All faithful believers have been
promised to be in heaven
a. Jesus Christ has prepared heaven for
believers – John 14:1-3
b. Faithful believers who overcome sin and
ungodliness will be in heaven – Rev 21:7
c. Those who do not overcome sin and ungodliness
will be thrown into hell – Rev 21:8
d. Believers must be encouraged about heaven and
strive to be there – Phil 2:12
e. Believers should live holy lives and in
expectation of heaven – 2Pet 3:10-14
CONFESSION: I am a citizen of God’s kingdom; I live a
holy life as I wait to spend eternity in Heaven
PRAYER: Lord, let me keep my eyes on you and on
Heaven; may I not be deceived by the pleasures of this world
