CHRISTIAN GIVING

Jesus is a Perfect Example of giving. He gave up his life and all he owned in heaven when he came to earth and died on the cross. He commands us to also lay down our lives for others by giving to them. Every Christian has been given the ability to give.

What is Christian Giving?

a.       Taking something that you have to benefit God’s kingdom

b.      Sacrificing your resources to benefit another person

Types of Christian Giving

a.       Giving Offerings

b.      Paying Tithes – Mal. 3:10

c.       Making other free-will donations in cash or kind

d.      Supporting a project with your money or materials

e.       Giving money or material possessions to the poor or needy

f.       Giving to pastors and other church members or believers

Why Christians should give

a.       We are commanded to give – Lk 6:38

b.      We have the grace or ability to give – 2Cor 8:1-5

c.       We follow the example of Jesus Christ when we give

d.      We always have something to give

e.       God is pleased when we give cheerfully

f.       Giving helps build God’s kingdom – Mal 3:10a

g.      We have a reward when we give – Mal 3:10b, Lk 6:38

How we should give – 2Cor 9:6-8

a.       We should give bountifully according to what we have

b.      We should not be forced to give what we don’t want to give

c.       We should give cheerfully

d.      We should give all the time

Rewards for Giving – Lk 6:38, Mal 3:10-11

a.       Money

b.      Material possessions

c.       God’s protection over our possessions and work

d.      Favour from people

e.       Spiritual blessing

f.       Eternal blessing

PRAYER: I pray for the grace to be a giver. Father, help me to give and not hold back, in Jesus name
